Bye 2004 and here comes 2005!

Before we welcome the new year with new resolutions, let's review 2004.

2004 is the year:

  1. Witness how normal people like you and me, become aspiring and famous celebrities overnight. Examples include, Taufik, Sylvester, Joanne Peh, Felicia Chin, and so on.
  2. Proclaim our very first Singapore Idol
  3. Poured the news over the Huang Na Saga everyday
  4. Wonder why numerous strangers donate so much money and hello kitties for crematation of Huang Na and not to orphanages instead.
  5. Realised how tragedy struck home with the collapse of the Nicoll Highway.
  6. Bought eggs at ridiculous prices due to the bird flu.
  7. See how the horrible Tsunami disaster destroyed the innocent lives of many from Phuket, Malaysia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and our neighbouring countries.
  8. Read the news and realised that many artistes / celebrities were actually retrenched because of the merger of two TV stations.

Actually more but I cannot remember. In all, an eventful year indeed.

New year resolutions? I don't remember making any. Even if I do, it will still be the same unresolved, "In the year 2005 and the years to come, I shall make an effort not to be late." So there.

In other news, while we will all be making merry, celebrating the new year, we shall not forget that there are people who will need us to help them after the horrible Tsunami disaster. Several families of the 100,000 (and still counting) victims will not be celebrating the new year this year. So please, make a small donation to Red Cross today. Every little thought counts.

To all, treasure your last few hours of 2004 and a tremendous year ahead!

Til 2005 then!

Why should we have a title??
//Listening to: Urna Chahartugchi - Hodoo

Remember the Sony Digicam advertisement? The one about 3 decades, 3 lifetimes or whatever with that wondrous Mongolian song as the background? Voila! The song happens to be "Hodoo" by Urna Chahartugchi. More info from here.

It's sad that we only got to know how nice Mongolian music can be through means like the media. I mean, it's not as if you would walk into a music store looking for Mongolian CDs out of the blue if you hadn't heard it on TV before. We would most probably go for the latest pop music, some Jay Chou or Jolin CD, or some Singapore Idol CD. Who knows? Perhaps Mongolian CD would be the last on our list.

So there. Some senseless ramblings on a cold night.

I took some time alone to walk around the newly revamped Tampines Mall / Century Square, and oh god, it must be a bloody long time since I was last there. New shops and restaurants were sprouting everywhere. And I love seeing new shops because that means, I can buy new things! And I love buying new things! Muahahaha.

Let's see what I had for dinner today.

From?

This freaking bowl of oyster mee sua cost me 3 bucks and it was not even half as nice as the one I had in Taiwan! This must be the most overrated food in rage nowadays. I swear that the one I had in Taiwan was twice as good, for less than half the price you pay here. Excluding the air tickets of course.

Then again, the one they sell in Geylang was even better. Duh.

Last of all, my new pair of shoes!!! Mr Eeyore is so going to kill me.

Merry X'mas!
//Listening to: Wham - Last Christmas

It has been a long time since I last blogged. I almost thought this blog is dying, like the previous one.

Anyway, here goes.

Merry Christmas!!!

It has been a busy week, with the wedding dinner, company Christmas dinner, section gathering and so on. Received lots of presents, even red wine which I've not thought of any event to utilise it. Perhaps the upcoming New Year then.

As years go by, Christmas has become a nondescript event to celebrate. We do the same things every year. Watching movies, fine dining, ktv, hanging out with friends and so on. Then we go to Orchard where people are like sardines and see lots of kids spraying confetti or "snow" on strangers and wonder how the cleaners are going to clean up the place later on.

The thing about these "kids" spraying "snow" I do not understand. They spray it on strangers like nobody's business. Strangers whom they do not even say hi to on normal days. For instance, I saw a mob of kids spraying tons of "snow" on this ang moh guy while he was waiting for the traffic lights to turn green. Unfortunately, he fell prey as he was stuck while waiting. As soon as the lights turned green, he fled for life.

Then, I saw another mob of kids (notice I say kids because I think they are childish, or perhaps I'm old), spraying tons of "snow" on this poor taxi which was also waiting for the traffic lights. The "snow" literally covered all the window panes on the taxi, which made it become a "snow taxi".

Anyway, that's not the point. The point is, doing such a childish act would pose a hazard on the road. Think of the poor taxi driver who could not watch the roads properly because his window is covered in snow.

Childish kids I say.

Then again, I would not mind if you were sabotaging your friends. Friends meaning, people you hang out with often, people who know this is a joke and would not blame you. After all, it's all in the name of fun.

All that said, Christmas is still my favorite holiday. =D

For now, let's see some pictures before I meet my chums for yet another session of fine dining.

So there. Watch out this space for the last post of 2004! And perhaps more pictures to come, if I'm not lazy that is.

Enjoy your weekend.
