Those were the days...On a boring Saturday afternoon, I decided to take a bus ride home instead of walking. As the bus rode past my Primary & Secondary schools, I realised with a tinge, that I really missed those carefree days of yonder.
I
missed the days when we would play police and thieves or hopscotch in the Primary school court during recess and after school.
I
missed the days when we would walk home together after school, chasing each other like it's the best game ever to play.
I
missed the days when we would gatecrash at a friend's house to play Super Mario and Sonic all day.
I
missed the days when we would take out & enjoy all our titbits and games on the bus journey to those excursions like Haw Par Villa or Tang Dynasty.
I
missed the days when all 3 of us would squeeze together on one bus seat, singing the latest pop songs.
I
missed the days when we would take silly photographs of each other during those excursions.
I
missed the days when we would play UNO card games during P.E. lessons.
I
missed the days when we would loiter in shopping malls and take silly neoprints after school.
I
missed the days when we would walk from school with those heavy instruments on hand to the community centre opposite for Chinese Orchestra lessons.
I
missed the days when we would giggle like silly little gals whenever our favourite senior walked past.
I
missed the days when we would buy the same stuffs so that we could form a clique.
I
missed the days when talks of growing up seemed far far away.
I
missed the days when worries could be cast far far away because our parents would always be there to solve them.
And then I wonder, 10 years down the road, would I miss this bus journey home?
